Sliced Sawn Veneer

MELROSE is a manufacturer of multiple lines. These lines include, prefinished oak, ash and maple planking. This variety of product lines allows us the unique opportunity to select only the best-sliced veneers for this engineered wood flooring. Only the best quality of lumber is selected, sorted and cut for the product line. Each and every board goes through numerous quality control stages before the veneer will be considered for the MELROSE Engineered Series™.

Hardwood Backing

Melrose, because of its product line versatility can manufacture a backing for this series from Edge Grain hardwoods. Edge Grain hardwood is extremely tough in both wearing and strength. We have selected this cut of lumber primarily for its expansion and contraction properties. For the most part, the movement of this cut of lumber is minimal both during humid and dry conditions. The benefit from such a backing is greater stability under various extremes of environment conditions. Each project sites' humidity levels vary not only in new construction but as well as retrofitting to an older site.
The edge grain hardwood backing is precision manufactured and assembled using an aluminum spine, which is stamped into the surface of the product to ensure that each piece is spaced approximately 1.5mm. The spacing is crucial to the performance of our line because it allows for the flexibility in its bending and twist; turn properties, which very few products can acclaim.

GATORTUF™ Finishing

Gatortuf is the latest technology using UV titanium crystals finishing techniques. From the types of coating available, we selected UV sealers, stains and finishes all of which are chemically bonded together at interval possessing system. Titanium crystal sealers are applied over the stain coating to help prevent the veneers from cracking and splitting. A special technique of grain filling is performed so that each board is smooth and that the multiple coats of titanium crystal finish flow evenly across the board. At each interval during application of finishes, UV radiant lamps are used to cure each coating as it progresses to the next station.


Polyurethane Bonding Adhesive
Melrose has developed, along with the adhesive manufactures, a State of the Art Adhesive Bonding Agent. When applied to our Edge Grain Hardwood Backing, the adhesive bonds the veneer to the backing. This adhesive allows the MELROSE™ Series to become extremely flexible not only in its bending properties but also in the twist and stress applications of the veneer and hardwood backing.
